Ginger began twirling in June of 1985 at the age of 5 after attending the Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade with her dad and being fascinated by the “girls with the sticks.” She marched around for weeks until her grandmother told her mom, “That means she wants to do it. Put that baby in some classes.”
After Ginger’s first studio closed in May 1989, Cyndi held her inaugural twirl camp in June 1989 in the Open Door School gymnasium. Ginger was there and became one of the studio’s original students.
In her time with the studio, Ginger was part of many state and national championship twirl teams, danced, moved into advanced-level twirling very quickly, and won three individual three-baton divisional titles between 1994 and 1998 and one three-baton grand champion title in 1998.
Her teaching journey began at 13 when Ginger assisted Cyndi and her sister, Teresa, in large combo classes. This led to Ginger becoming a certified instructor in 1996 and, from there, continued to teach many students in baton, tumbling, and dance. She also assisted Alys Patrick in flag, and Ginger is now the studio’s flag/color guard instructor.
Additionally, Ginger was the head majorette at Ironton High School in the 1997/1998 school year and assisted Patty Freeman with the flags and majorettes going into the 1998/1999 season. From 2003 to 2005, Ginger was the Ironton High School flag corp and majorette instructor. The guard never received anything below a superior rating at competition in those two years.
In 2002, she married Joe. They have three children: Kaleigh, Amelia, and Eric. They also have a cat named Leo and a dog named Tank.
Ginger went to Ohio University to be a psychologist but, instead, found a love for technology. She works for Iron Bow Technologies as a clinical project manager on contracts with the Veterans Health Administration’s Digital Health Office.
